What is Nyaderm?

Nyaderm is a topical antifungal cream that treats certain fungal infections of your skin.

Nyaderm may also be used for reasons not stated in this medication guide.

Key Facts About Nyaderm

Nyaderm is in FDA pregnancy category C. Nyaderm is not known to harm an unborn baby. You should tell your doctor if you are pregnant, or if you plan to become pregnant before you start to take Nyaderm. You should not use Nyaderm without telling your doctor if you are breastfeeding a baby, as we do not yet know if Nyaderm passes into breast milk.

You must take Nyaderm for the full length of time that your doctor has prescribed. Do not stop taking Nyaderm because you think you are better without talking to your doctor first.

Before You Take Nyaderm

If you are allergic to nystatin you should not use Nyaderm.

If you have a large, open wound you may not be able to use Nyaderm. Talk to your doctor if you have a sizable or open wound before starting treatment with Nyaderm.

Nyaderm Drug Interactions

You should inform your doctor if you are taking any other topical drug treatments, as they may affect your use of Nyaderm.

Other drugs you take that are not listed may interact with Nyaderm. You should tell your doctor about all of the medications you use. This includes prescription drugs, vitamins, supplements and herbal products, and over the counter medications. You should not begin taking a new medication without telling your doctor first.

Directions for Taking Nyaderm

You should take Nyaderm exactly as directed by your doctor. It is important that you do not take Nyaderm in larger or smaller amounts, or for longer or shorter than recommended. Follow the directions on your prescription label and follow any dose changes carefully if your doctor instructs you to change your dose.

While you are using Nyaderm take care to keep the affected area clean and dry. Apply the prescribed amount of the Nyaderm cream with clean hands.

Do not use bandages that restrict air circulation over the affected area unless your doctor has told you to do so. A light cotton gauze dressing may be used to protect your clothing, and wearing loose clothing may help to prevent irritation.

Take care not to get Nyaderm in your eyes, mouth or nose.

Nyaderm needs to be stored at room temperature, and away from light, moisture and heat.

If you miss a dose of Nyaderm you should attempt to take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Do not apply extra Nyaderm to make up for a missed dose.

Nyaderm Side Effects

If you experience any of the following adverse effects you should stop taking Nyaderm and seek emergency medical help immediately:

• allergic reactions such as breathing difficulties, hives, or swelling of your face, lips, throat or tongue

Less serious side effects of Nyaderm may include

• mild itching and irritation of your skin.

Nyaderm Description and Dosing

Nyaderm is available as a cream in 100,000 unit/gram size (30 gram tube).

You should consult your doctor for specific dosing pertaining to you. Do not attempt to alter or change your dose without your physician’s consent.

If you suspect that you have overdosed with Nyaderm you should seek emergency help immediately.

Ingredients in Nyaderm

Nyaderm is comprised of the main ingredient nystatin. Other non-medicinal ingredients include aluminum hydroxide gel, ceteareth-15, glyceryl monostearate, methylparaben, perfume 9128-Y, polyethylene glycol-400 monostearate, propylene glycol, propylparaben, purified water, simethicone emulsion, sodium hydroxide, sorbitol solution, titanium dioxide and white petrolatum.
